You do get some free content as a part of your monthly subscription but you really miss out on the top tier tracks and cars.
But from what I have read iRacing can be a very expensive proposition depending on how many cars and tracks you want to buy. I have never played iRacing at all but I have done a lot of reading on it because it is something I would like to get into it so I cannot give any first hand experience with it.
